LE LURVE

Behold…BRACKENFURXFERNCLOUD! U know u ship it! I ahven’t drawn this couple in an eternity…not since I got my outlining sharpie, anyway. So this is another oldie that’s making an appearance again!
I love these two together Why? Well, for one thing, I HATE DustxFern and BrackenxSorrel. A lot. Mainly because of…AGE DIFFERENCE! Srsly, didn’t anybody notice HOW MUCH FREAKING OLDER Dustpelt and Brakcenfur are than Ferncloud and Sorreltail? It’s just flat-out gross! Pedophilia, much? That’s not the only reason I hate them, though. I’m pretty sure it’s Dustpelt’s fault Ferncloud neevr leaves the nursery. He’s so overprotective she has grown to completely rely on him and can’t fend for herself. Hence her laziness. Also, what do they even see in each other??? I know opposites supposedly attract, but this is rediculous! Ferncloud is pretty, but other than that, she hasn’t got any traits I think Dustpelt would value. Dustpelt is all aggressive and rude, while Ferncloud is as nice as nice can be. Therefore, DustxFern=WTF?!?! And of course we have BrackenxSorrel, the “perfect” couple. These two egt along so well it’s sickening. I mean, they NEVER fight. All couples fight occasionally…most of the long-term canon ones in warriors have. Look at BramblexSquirrel, CloudxBright, and FirexSand. Have we ever seen Brackenfur and Sorreltail have a disagreement? I think not! Not to mention all of the newly budding couples talk about how they want a relationship like BrackenxSorrel. Never FirexSand, never DustxFern…always BrackenxSorrel. It makes me want to vomit.
With that said, I shall now preach about why BrackenxFern is the best thing since Life Saver Gummies. First of all, I am in fact aware that the age gap isn’t a whole lot better than BrackenxSorrel. Let me remind you that when I was decided who to ship with who in the original series, I didn’t have a crapton of cats to choose from. I was considering shipping Thornclaw with Ferncloud, but that would leave Sorreltail mateless, unless I put her with Brambleclaw, which would leave Squirrelflight mateless, unless I put her with Crowfeather, which would leave both Leafpool and Feathertail mateless, unless I put Feathertail with Brambleclaw, which I can’t do because he already has Sorreltail. It just ended up working out the best that I put Brackenfur with Ferncloud and Thornclaw with Sorreltail, even though the age gaps are a little big since Brackenfur mentored Tawnypelt for a while, who was an apprentice with Ferncloud. On the contrary, Brackenfur matured a lot faster than other cats did, so he got his first apprentice fairly young. ANYWAYS, on to why Brackenxfern is a win! For starters, Brackenfur is a pretty mellow guy. He wouldn’t be all overprotective of Ferny and would kind of let her do her own thing. With the freedom of not being stuck in the nursery all the time, Ferncloud could actually be a good warrior. She IS clanborn, after all. I think Brackenfur’s upbeat attitude and friendliness would be a much better match for Ferncloud’s gentle nature than Dustpelt’s sour attitude. So Bracken and Fern have pretty much the same personality, except that Bracken is probably braver. He could teach Fern to be brave instead of trying to defend her all the time. Also…I think one litter of kits would be enough for Brackenfur. He wouldn’t keep pressuring her to have more, and would just be happy with a few. Another reason Ferncloud wouldn’t hang around in the nursery all the time!
So there you have it. That is why Brackenfur and Ferncloud make an utterly adorable couple
I suppose you could say this is my Valentine’s Day picture, although it’s not really because I always draw couples anyway, and I didn’t ACUALLY submit it on Valentine’s Day. But if u wanna pretend it’s my Valentine’s Day picture, be my guest.
This picture isn’t my best, but it could be worse. I probably say that about most of my pictures I’m not sure if I like Brackenfur’s design or not…I used some new colors on him. I wouldn’t say it screws up the picture at least. I might use this design on my next BrackenxFern picture, or go back to the old one. I haven’t decided yet. He looks super muscular! :/ But that’s okay. Guys are supposed to look muscular, right? His head used to look too fat, but it looks fine now. It took me FOREVER to get his front paws right! I had to redo them like 16 times! Srsly! UGH! But now they look decent, so I suppose it was worth it. I think it says at some point that Brackenfur has amber eyes, but it says that in the 4th series, which I haven’t been reading. I think he looks better with green eyes, so that’s his eye color here. As for Ferncloud’s design…meh. Her face looked really derpy originally, but then I made it look less derpy but adding a blush. She still looks herpderpy, but some things can’t be helped *sad sigh* I t took me like 20 tries to get her back leg right!!! I changed it from my refernce, so it was difficult finding a leg pose that looked good with the rest of the picture. I decided to make her gray with darker flecks instead of pale gray with darker flecks…I think she looks better pale gray. Ashfur, however, looks better gray, so I’m going to have different designs for Ash and Fern, even though they are supposed to be identical twins. I’m a terrible person.
I am seriously running out of background ideas. It sucks. I figured a striped spiral would do for this piccy, and it didn’t come out too bad. I still can’t do forest scenery worth a shit, so I always do geometric designs instead. Sorry about the erase marks…there wasn’t really any way to get rid of them. Hope they don’t hurt ur eyes TOO much.
